29 September 2003 Status at The Aquatic Hillcrest Headline: TRR Complete, Radar Working. The meeting was held in the morning. I began with remarks noting the wonder support and cooperation provided over the last two weeks by the GAF. Captain Haan and I agreed that Sgt. Major Steffen Pohl should receive most of the honor for this situation. His support was terrific and we are glad he is part of the team. Test Director Weyer and Captain Haan, who are here at The Aquatic Hillcrest, discussed via telephone with Herr Barz, who is in Koblenz, the recommendation to proceed with the 120 hour test immediately. We expected to receive approval soon and begin after lunch. While the discussions were held, Ron and Bill changed the 2nd LO Generator, to replace the engineering board that Brad brought last week with one provided by the GAF on Friday. The GAF are also helping us locate printer ribbons, and have found a circuit breaker in the depot that we can borrow until ours is delivered. Our team has changed slightly. Sgt. Steffen Pohl returned late Saturday to his post. He was a tremendous help to our team and we would not be ready to proceed without having had his help. Our new member is Olaf Bohla, who provides Systems Support to the GAF. He was key to finding and fixing the ITU communication problem noted below. It has been arranged that official testing may begin once the Material Command approves that the 5 boards currently in the system shall stay in the radar permanently. That was been approved, providing LM agrees to repair and return the 5 defective boards to the Material Command. I have sent a Program Directive to LM Repair & Return providing the necessary direction. We expect to begin official testing as soon as all agree the necessary agreements are in place. Brad and Greg went to Fulda to pick up tools and parts. When they arrived back at the radome, no formal testing had begun. Testing may begin in the morning. There may be some confusion over the paperwork required to begin testing. 18:30: The team got the ITU communicating with the modem cabinet. There was an I/O board that came loose inside the ITU, and when the team re-inserted it, things began to work. This will allow completion of the dry runs tomorrow for the 3 tests. This is a VERY BIG success for our team and culminates 5 days of debugging. We received no deliveries today and we need to push on where our packages are. 19:45: Steve Burdick called to see how we are doing with the RES. When I reported its comatose nature, he offered to check with EIS and see if they have any of these vintage disk drives that we are unable to find. Thanks, Steve! It's a Quantum ProDrive, supported now by Maxtor. 20:20 While Brad and Bill repaired the row 5 receiver problem, Ron and Greg attempted to tighten the oil level sensor below the pedestal. It was NOT loose. Another solution will be sought tomorrow. Punchlists:Remaining Items to Perform at Radome:
