23 September 2003 Status at The Aquatic Hillcrest
Headline: Site fine, Radar not running
Link to Dry Run Status
Serial number information provided by the GAF this morning:
Noise Detectors:
Requisition DGYAA432020520 serial # 82 in Luxembourg en route to USA
Requisition DGYAA432120400 serial # C57 In the USA
RF Phased Switch Module Requisition DGYAA432030400 serial # 03538-4 In the
USA
At 1015 Sgt. Beitz informs us all available pars (see yesterday's table) will
arrive Thursday at 1400. Hopefully Brad gets here tomorrow with the RF
Switch.
Sgt. Pohl provided us with necessary clamps and tools to perform dry run of
slipring concentricity.
At 1330 Sharon Dew of the data center has informed me that ALL documents have
bene located, and Brad Shannon will have 2 blank sets with him when he travels
tonight.
Sgt. Pohl has called another radar site that has a RES and is enquiring the
position of the disk drive jumpers. If changing the jumper locations does
not improve the situation, then the rebuilt disk drive shipped here arrived DOA
and we will not be able to operate or sell the RES.
After trying all possible disk selections, including the configuration of
jumpers at Altenberg, I can not make the RES discover its disk drive. I
think it is DOA. I will see if we can get the same board from Altenberg
brought here to make sure that is the problem.
Consulted with Ron Panetta of EIS on how to transfer binary files from the
Vax to the W2000 laptop with no success, will work this again tomorrow.
1530 meeting with GAF:
Status of documentation requested, information is that all test procedures
have been located in Syracuse and two blank copies are being carried by Brad
Shannon this evening.
Discussed status of dry runs being performed. Discussed expectations
for certain tests.
Discussed status of RES: nothing will make our RES work. We requested
that that GAF bring us the SPU from the RES at Altenberg. On the spot,
Captain Haan asked Sgt. Beitz to call Captain Fromm, after this, Sgt. Pohl
received a call from Altenberg, and reported that the SPU from that site will be
here in the morning. This took about 10 minutes to arrange. This is
a small example of the outstanding cooperation provided to us by the GAF.
So, everything is going good, except the radar is not working.
Daily oil leak analysis: Same as yesterday, no additional leaks or
data (antenna not rotating)
Photos from today:
Different weather today.
Making it a good day to work inside and go through the 23A tests, turning off
all the power, checking voltages, etc.
